A story about a son going to the butcher

Kilgeverin, Co. Galway

Once upon a time a woman sent her son to the butchers for hearts, livers and lights up. Every time she used to send him on a message he would always forget his business. So she told him to keep repeating it in case he would forget it. He continued on until he met a man who was vomiting. The boy said “hearts, liver and lights up”. The man beat him and told him to say that no more may come up until he saw two men sowing potatoes. He said that no more may come up. The men beat him and told him to say one hundred this year and one hundred next year. He continued on until he got to the butchers. He could not think of what he wanted and the butcher beat him.
