The Old Market House

Laurencetown, Co. Galway

At the eastern end of the village is an old Market House. It was taken down and the stones were used for building labourer’s houses. I found out that there were arches in it, so that when a car load of hay or turnips etc. came in, it could come I one arch and drive out the one opposite. Laurencetown was once noted for its markets.
