Menlo Gate - Lions Heads

Co. Galway, Ireland

Menlo Castle was built in 1569, and was the main home of the Blake family, until it tragically burned down in 1910. The gate at the entrance to the castle dates from c. 1730-1770. These are two carved heads which form the base of the arch.
