Galway County Council Heritage Office is working on producing an online heritage resource for the towns, villages and townlands of the county. To date information has been compiled on a number of towns and villages and includes historical information, the official name of the place in English and Irish as well as the meaning of the placename (if this is available). In addition to this there are a number of useful website links available for each place including genealogy, history, heritage and community interest. There is also a Link to participating groups and associates HERE
