Bird’s nest orchid, an uncommon plant spotted in Castletaylor Wood near Ardrahan. Both the old flowerhead gone to seed and the young new flower can be seen. This plant is saprophytic, feeding off decaying organic matter and other plants. Most likely to be seen in beech woods.
