  • Hi George,
Excited to have contact with a direct descendant of Uncle John Hardiman and his son James!
Malachy is my 3-GG so Hi cousin. John Hardiman was on the Mariner (3) arrived Sydney Cove 23 May 1827.
Re what happened to Winifred. On the document “Unmarried Female Immigrant” for Bridget Hardyman its records, “Dr of John & Winifred – father alive”.
Analysising this it is saying that Winifred was not alive. So she was deceased on or before the children immigrated, i.e. before Aug 1841
    ( See https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/1204/images/IMAUS1787_081262-0165?pId=1023 ).

  • I am a direct descendent of James Hardiman ( son of John and Winifred of Castleblakeney) who arrived in Australia with Bridget and John on 1841 – the ship was the John Renwick.
I am keen to find out about John (father) who was convicted of sheep stealing in 1827. Was he transported to Australia, and if so, on what ship ?Also, what became of Winifred after children left ?
