In the western area of Kilthomas, in the barony of Loughrea, is Clooneen.
O’Donovan’s Field Name Books included other spellings of Clooneen. These were Cluainín, Cluainín, Cloonen, and Cloonevoneen. Clooneen is a small townland with all of the property belonging to Mr. Martin. The land was arable and rent was charged £1 per acre. The county cess or tax was 9 pence.
