Connolly Window, Claddagh

This window is in the Claddagh Church. The inscription reads: “Erected by John Connolly in loving memory of his brother Thomas RIP”

Johnnie also (in conjuction with Mafra McDonogh) paid for the altar, pulpit and stations there. I understand the stations were a replica of those in another church…(possibly in Liverpool?).

I understand he received a Bene Merente for his services.

Johnnie was in the Customs and Excise in Liverpool before returning home. He never married but clearly did well well for himself. His brother Tommy was in the Coastguard Service at stations on the Western Circuit. Related families: C/Kavanagh, Mullally, Gaskin (of Barbados), Burke, Murphy and Jones.

Johnnie is an uncle of my great grandmother, Ellen Mullally of Fairhill.
