The John Stevens Shop in Newport, Rhode Island, is one of America’s longest running
business’, having opened it’s stone carving doors in 1705. Today the shop is owned and run by
Nick Benson, third generation letterer and stone carver. In the past few decades The John
Stevens Shop has created some of the finest lettering on America’s national monuments, such
as the The World World II Memorial and the Martin Luther King Memorial, both in Washington
D.C, along with countless other national memorials and monuments.”
