Eating in the bog and for the Stations

Interviewee: PJ Murray (PM)
CD: And PJ, were you ever in the bog?
PM: I was
CD: And did you like going?
PM: I liked it alright, it was too hard with the turf
CD: It was a long day
PM: It was, Clare
CD: And what would you bring to eat in the bog?
PM: What?
CD: What would you bring to eat in the bog?
PM: The bog?
CD: Yeah, would you have a sandwich or something with you?
PM: I would
CD: Because you ‘d be very hungry
PM: I would and [inaudible] in the bog
CD: You’d have the cup of tea?
PM: I would
CD: And do you ever remember going to the Stations when you were small?
PM: What?
CD: Going to the Stations?
PM: Think I did
CD: And the priest would come and say mass
PM: That’s right
CD: There would have to be a cup of tea then afterwards
PM: I don’t know where the Stations were, where were the Stations…We had the Stations in the house
CD: That’s right, you’d have them in the house and the house would have to be cleaned
PM: It would, yeah
Clare: Yeah. And you get out all the best tablecloths
PM: You would.
CD: Do you remember your mother doing that?
PM: I did, Clare, I did
