An excellent account of the historical changes in Gortard and Clarinbridge, Mark. Thorough enjoyable read. My g, grandparents were married in the old chapel, with Rev McDonagh officiating – only realised it was now the pharmacy building when reading this document. Such information would be lost without the timely, excellent research. Would be enormously helpful if other rural Galwegians compose similar documented, historical accounts, of their own homesteads. Another similar, comprehensive, good, and historical read is “Craughwell, A Parish in County Galway” Ed G Cloonan.
This is an amazing document. My connection to it is my Great Grandmother, Mary Connors was from there. This is the most amount of information I have yet seen. I have visited Clarinbridge 3 times, now this really fills out the story. Thank you to all who were involved in this effort !!!!
