The night of Shrove Tuesday is called pancake night. Even in the humblest of homes, there is a little feast and pancakes are eaten. On Easter Sunday, it is the custom that everyone in the family eats 2 eggs, and more if they are able.

On November’s night, a cake in which a ring is put, is cut and the person who gets the ring is the first to be married. November’s goose is killed on the 1st November – it is usually the best goose in the flock.

On St. Martin’s Day (11th November) people kill cocks and millers stop their mills for the day and sprinkle the blood of the fowl on the querns mill stones)
