The Woman Selling Butter

Cushatrough, Co. Galway

There was a woman in Aughris Mor. She used to go to Westport every month selling butter. This night, when she was coming home she met two men, they asked her was her husband alive, and she said that he was drowned. The men said that the next time that her friends would be going to shear sheep to go down with them and they would show her the place where they were drowned. She said she would. When she went home she got blind, and she found out that she had been talking to drowned men.
