My father sows a half acre of potatoes every year. Our garden grows very good potatoes, including Kerr Pinks. Champions are the best of all though. Every 4 years it is trenched in the month of January. In April, the trenches are levelled out and this kills all the weeds. Drills can then be made and the slits, the potatoes that have been waiting for a week, are added in the ground. A bag manure is shaken on top. The slits are planted about 10 inches apart. Spraying improves the stalks and ensures a better crop.
