A Story About Churning

Kiltullagh, Co. Galway

One day a man who could not churn the cream into butter went for a walk in the field. A hare ran in front of him, trying to escape from the hunting hounds. When the huntsman came, and asked if the farmer had seen the hare he said no. The hare, who was really a witch, was grateful and said that the churn was working again. When he went back, the churn was full of butter.
