Rev. Fr. Francis Coghlan P.P. 1831-1873

Fr. Francis Coghlan

Francis Coghlan was parish priest of the combined parishes of Killimor and Tiernascragh from 1831 onwards.  He is credited with having begun the keeping of Baptismal and Marriage Records in both parishes in October 1831.  According to the Diocesan Records he lived in Sandymount House (Moneenaveena), Killimor.

The picture shown is a copy of an image of Rev. Francis Coghlan P.P. which was found in 2001 in the late Rev. P.K. Egan’s house.  The image was made available courtesy of Declan Kelly and Fr. Ciarán Kitching.

A note on the picture reads:

and Tyranascragh
