Joyce Country - Townlands

Ceantar Dhúiche Sheoigheach

Joyce Country is a special region in North Connemara stretching from Maam Cross in the south to Tourmakeady in the North. It encompasses the upper Lough Corrib to the South East and lower Lough Mask to the North East.  Surrounded by the Maamturk Mountains to the west, the region is an ideal playground for outdoor enthusiasts and Irish language speakers.

Anglers, Hikers and Cyclists flock to the area every year. Punctuated by the quaint villages of Tourmakeady, Clonbur, Finny, Cornamona and Maam the region has many offerings of fine food and drink.

Is ceantar speisialta i gConamara Thuaidh ag síneadh ó Teach Dóite ó dheas go Tuar Mhic Éadaigh ó thuaidh é Dúiche Sheoigheach. Cuimsíonn sé uachtarach Loch Coirib Thoir Theas agus íochtarach Loch Measc Thoir Thuaidh. Mórthimpeallaithe ag Sléibhte Mhám Toirc san Iarthar, is páirc spraoi idéalach do dhíograiseoirí d’imeachtaí amuigh faoin aeir agus do Ghaeilgeoirí.

Tagann slatiascairí, siúlóirí agus rothaithe chuig an ceantar ina sluaite chuile bhliain. Sna sráidbhailte ciúin sa cheantar, siadsan Tuar Mhic Éadaigh, An Fháirche, Fionnaithe, Corr na Móna agus An Mhám, tá neart bia agus deoch den scoth ar fáil.
