Saint Patrick & His Biographers by Professor Dáibhí Ó Crónín

On Thursday March 13th at Donaghpatrick National School in Caherlistrane the Donaghpatrick Kilcoona Heritage Society held their first lecture of 2025 entitled ‘Saint Patrick and his Biographers – Ancient and Modern’ by Dáibhí Ó Cróinín.

Professor Emeritus of Medieval History in UCG, Dáibhí discussed Saint Patrick and his life, referencing original sources and some of the most recent modern publications, taking an in-depth, truthful look at our patron saint and the ‘man behind the myth’.

Prof. Dáibhí Ó Cróinín is a celebrated historian with numerous publications. He is a member of the Royal Irish Academy and the Irish Manuscripts Commission, editor of Peritia, Journal of the Medieval Academy of Ireland, as well as chair of the Royal Irish Academy Dictionary of Medieval Latin from Celtic Sources.
