Ballybaun is situated in the north west of the civil parish of Killallaghtan barony of Kilconnell, Co Galway. It is bounded in said barony by Loughaunavaig, Ballantubber and Killaghmore in this parish. It is also bounded by Cloonamorris in the parish of Killaan. It is located about 6 miles south west of Ahascragh. It shares a border with Ballintober, Cloonymorris, Killaghmore and Loughaunnavaag.
