10. River walk to Bishop Street Bridge

The riverside walkway brings us upstream from the Palace Bridge to the Bishop Street Bridge. Onlookers might be lucky to see salmon or large trout lying in the reeds or even in the act of spawning! On the other side of the road is the one hundred and fifty-three metre cotoneaster and clematis hedge created by Tuam Tidy Town in 2017. The Bishop Street Bridge was said to have been built by Archbishop Daniel between 1609 and 1629. It was rebuilt by Timothy Dunne Sovereign in 1735.[1]
