Norah Folan – Application No. C/17 6770. The application was received on 03/09/1917 and had an address of Moyrus, Carna, Co. Galway. Norah’s parent’s names were given as Pat and Mary Folan (Lydon). The 1851 residence was given as Moyrus, in the Parish of Moyrus, in the Barony of Ballynahinch, Co. Galway. In the right hand margin there was the name Honor that was handwritten. An extract was made on 08/09/1917 and a copy was dispatched to the applicant on 12/09/1917.
Martin or Tom Lyden – Application No. C/22 1785. The application was received on 30/03/1922. The address given for that time was Mrs. Mary Burke, Dooyeher, Carna, Co. Galway. Parent’s names were given as Thomas and Mary Lyden (Mongan). Address in 1841 was Moyrus, in the Parish of Moyrus, in the Barony of Ballynahinch, Co. Galway. The search was returned on 03/04/1920 (sic)[i] with the handwritten note saying “ Thomas and Mary Lydon married 1820, Martin 9, Mary 12, Norry (sic) 7, Kitty 6, Bridget 5, Fanny 4 months.
Michael Lydon – Application No. C/17 1272. The application was received on 08/02/1917 with an address of W. Martin, A Moran D.C. Carna, Connemara, Co. Galway. Michael’s parents were given as William and Margaret Lydon (Jennings). The residence in 1851 was Moyrus, in the Parish of Moyrus, in the Barony of Ballynahinch, Co. Galway. The search was returned on 10/02/1917 with the words “not found”
1670 Down Survey for Gleninagh (Moyrus)
The 1670 Down Survey names for this area were Keilemore, Glancarbdemore, Gortnefunshine, Rossynelee and Shanaharaghane. The owner in 1641 was Edmund O’Flaharty, a Catholic and in 1670 the owner was James Darcy, also a Catholic.
